Thinking about an engagement photo shoot ?

Should we have an engagement photo shoot before our wedding day?

If this is one of the many questions you are asking yourself after just getting engaged then hopefully I have the answer…

Engagement photography or pre wedding shoots are a perfect way to meet up with your wedding photographer before the big day and get to know each other.
I always meet up with my couples to discuss their wedding plans and then book in an engagement photography shoot later on. Shoots can be any time but at least 3 months before the big day is key. A lot of couples do it a year to the day.

It’s an ideal opportunity to get a feel for the camera before hand and helps us photographers see your body language, whether romantic and cuddly or staying 2 metres apart –if it is not because of this virus then maybe you should not be getting married!

Many couples tell me they do not like posing for the camera and feel more comfortable with candid shots. The engagement shoot is the perfect time to capture the candid shots while helping put you at ease with the camera.

I know that I have felt the same in the past and so I make sure the shoot is kept fun and relaxed, capturing natural laughs and smiles.

Think about where you would like the shoot. An obvious place is where you proposed. I have a large studio space but all of my clients either choose the woods, beach or out on the Norfolk Broads.

With hints and tips on the perfect poses it will make the wedding day flow by with one less worry. Things like where to put hands (keep it clean), where to look and how long it should take to capture all those lovely images and ideas you have seen on Pinterest.

It’s also great to create some fun memorable photos, either just the 2 of you or more often than not with your children or pets.

These photos are then great to put out on the wedding day for guests to see.

I always put my clients favourite image on their personalised login cards – this is great as a keep sake for wedding guests and allows them to find the website gallery after the wedding day with all your wedding photographs on.

If you would like to find out more or have any questions then please get in contact. I always offer engagement shoots free with all my wedding photography packages but if that is not the case then expect to pay anywhere between £100 and £350.

Drop me a message with your venue choice and I will send you a link to my blog about it.
